The AC Hotel by Marriott Houston Downtown (AC Houston) is the first AC hotel in Houston and only the second in Texas. Developed by NewcrestImage, the property is an adaptive reuse of a historic 1914 building in downtown Houston, originally commissioned by famed Houston entrepreneur, Jessie Jones, and designed by Alfred Finn as the headquarters of Gulf Oil. The unique 10-story hotel features 195 rooms, blending European soul with Texas friendliness, where every element is tailored for modern travelers’ needs. Amenities include European-inspired breakfast, free WiFi, 50-inch TVs with premium channels, flexible workspaces and mini-fridges, as well as a 24-hour fitness center and business center. Guests will find a great selection of snacks in the AC Kitchen or can indulge in hand-crafted cocktails and a nightly selection of tapas-inspired small bites at the AC Lounge. The Lounge is integrated with the Zoe Ballroom, a 3,600 square foot events space, originally opened in 1914 as a silent movie theatre on the building’s ground floor. The hotel also features a media salon and a coffee house. The hotel’s customized interior design and furnishings reflect minimalistic European-style, including guest rooms with “floating” furniture and public space featuring wood and stone finishes accented by chrome.
