Owned by the same folks behind The Woodlands’ Hubbell & Hudson Bistro & Market, Black Walnut Cafe draws an eclectic mix of students, the professional set and Rice Village neighbors for sandwiches, salads, pastas and other hearty fare.

Located along the Village’s bustling Morningside Drive, the warmly-inviting, counter-service café seems to always be buzzing with activity. In the AM, the kitchen is busy turning out omelets, French toast and eggs benedict, before switching to pastas, sandwiches and specialty salads later in the day. The afternoon remains popular, too, as students and the professional set stop in for gelato, coffee service and a diverse dessert line-up, perfect for savoring at one of Black Walnut’s linger-worthy bistro tables.

The restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, daily. Tip: Parking can be hard to come by during peak hours, snag a spot in the adjacent parking garage and the restaurant will validate your ticket.
