Luling City Market

Make no mistake, this centrally located BBQ joint is not related to the legendary City Market in Luling, TX. Though, for hungry Houstonians that don’t feel like driving two and a half hours to grab dinner at the original, Luling City Market makes for a convenient and tasty alternative. The casual, counter-service concept is outfitted in authentic Texas memorabilia and is set just inside the Loop, near the Galleria.

Grab a tray and load up on brisket, ribs, chicken and home-made sausage links, all cooked over post oak wood. Luling City sides include pinto beans, potato salad and coleslaw, as well as mini pecan pies and Texas-sized brownies. For a savory souvenir, pick up a bottle of the restaurant’s housemade Bar-B-Que Sauce. The tangy, mustard-based concoction goes with just about everything and can be shipped world wide.

Luling City Market is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. and Sundays from noon until 7 p.m. Heading there for lunch? Get there early or be prepared to wait.
